AFRICA: Where black is not really beautiful

South Africa is marketed to the world as Mandela's raimbow nation, where everyone is proud of their race and heritage. But for some black South Africans there is such a thing as being too black.

A recent study in the university of capetown suggest that one women of three in South Africa bleaches her skin.
They use skin-lighters because they want 'white skin'.
Local musician Nomasonto "Mshoza" Mninsi, now several shades lighter, says her new skin makes her more happy, beautiful and confident.

Entrenched in the minds of many Africans from a young age is the adage "if it's white, it's all right" a belief that has chipped away at the self-esteem of millions

Wear your dark skin and lovely face with a grin on it black child!!

  1. I don't know how we think as black people, why are we not proud of our black skins and think that white people are beautiful? even if you bleach your skin you will remain ugly if you were born ugly. everyone is beautiful in s/he's own way.

  2. People should understand that being black does not mean that one is ugly but more beautiful in more ways than one. We should learn that we are okay the way that we are and we need no spice or sugar on top of that

  4. Amen to that. Being black is beautiful. I think it's time people just start loving themselves... especially girls

  5. This has come to be a habit in black women. They don't care how much they spend but if it means white skin its worth it, which is wrong we should be proud of who we are.

  6. I agree with this, people don't wanna be themselves anymore. God made us black for a valid reason and for us to appreciate being black
